How we work
Most of what we do needs no appointment; come in and we will look at it. Below is how long each job realistically takes and what to bring with you.
Repairs and care
Broken links, failing clasps, loose stones and small repairs are the most common work. Straightforward repairs usually take a few days; if a stone has to be sourced or the work is intricate it takes longer, and we say so upfront.
Bring the box and any certificate. If a chain has broken, keep the loose piece: rebuilding with the original material almost always gives the cleanest result.
Resizing
Sizing a ring up or down is usually done within a few days. Have your size measured in the middle of the day: fingers measure differently morning and evening, and a morning size can feel tight later.
Not every ring can go to every size. Fully set bands and certain shapes have limits, and we will not promise anything before seeing the piece.
Bespoke work
It starts with a conversation, not a drawing. We talk about who the piece is for, how it will be worn and what range it needs to stay within. Then you see the design, we settle dimensions, and you sign off; only then is anything made.
Realistic timings: straightforward bespoke one to two weeks, pieces with stones and detail two to four weeks. If you are working towards a wedding, start early.
Using your own gold
Gold you no longer wear, that has broken, or that you inherited can usually be melted down and worked into the new piece, which brings the metal cost down directly. Two things we settle first: the purity may not suit the new design, and for some pieces the sentimental value outweighs the material. Sometimes repairing the original is the better call.
Wedding-ring advice
With wedding rings the real question is not appearance but wear: a ring you never take off calls for a different purity and a different profile than one worn a few times a year. We suggest both of you come in together.
